Practicalities
How to getting to Yemen:
there are many of international flights run to Yemen as the
following schedule :

Visiting season:
Tourists can visit Yemen all year round as the altitudes
counteract the effects of high temperatures.
Temperatures in the highland are mild year round with cool
evenings and warm days.
During the summer only the desert and coastal plains in the west
as well as Aden in the south are very hot while the weather in
the northern mountains is dry and fresh.
Visiting season to Socotra Island:
The tourist seasons for Socotra Island
is limited from the beginning of October until mid of May.
Other months of every year will be
windy because the southwest Monsoon which blows from June
till mid of September, during Monsoon it is good time for
the people who like the adventure sport like windsurfing.
Rainy season:
End of April – mid of May, mid of August – mid of September and
usually it rains in the afternoon or in the night.
The rain season on Socotra Island:
The rains fall mainly during the mid of November and
December, with a yearly average of 160 mm, although this is
highly variable from year to year. Mid of November to March
offers the best weather with cool temperatures and little or
no rain the months of April and May are hot with daytime
temperatures well above 40˚C.
Electricity:
220V, 50-60 Hz.
Health Care:
Public and private hospitals and pharmacies are spread around
the country. Most of them provide around the clock services.
Currency:
The
currency of Yemen is Yemeni Riyal (YR). Visitors can exchange
foreign currencies in exchange establishments spread all around
Yemeni cities as well as Hotels, also there are many banks that
accept Visa, MasterCard, and Travels
Cheques.

The dialing direction:
The country access code followed by a city code, after that the
telephone number must be six digits, but if you calling from
city to other city inside Yemen, you need only to enter (0)zero
digits before city code.
The calling to Yemen from landline to mobile you need only to
enter the country access code.
The calling from landline to mobile inside Yemen will be
directly, no need to entering a city code.
Cellular Phone:
Currently more than half of Yemen is covered with phone towers
servicing an international GSM network. If your cell phone has
GSM service, it should operate in most cities in Yemen except
Socotra Island. There is also a new telecom company called Yemen
mobile. It works with a new system (CDMA), different from GSM.
There is coverage in all Yemen cities, even Sokotra Island.
Transportation Services:
A descent network of Asphalt and dirt roads links all major and
secondary cities. Public and private companies provide
first-class daily coach services between major cities. Taxi
stations also provide their services around the clock.
Internet Service:
The
telecommunication network in Yemen provides modern international
calling, fax and Internet services. These are available in major
hotels and internet

Formalities
Visas:
The visitors
from the following соuntriеs саn obtain entry visa at the оffiсiаl
pоrts of Yemen.
European Union countries, Russia, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, USA,
Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand,
Arab Gulf States.
The visitors from other countries can get entry visa to the
Republic of Yemen from the Yemeni Embassy or Consulate in your
country.
Prospective visitors from countries
with which Yemen has no diplomatic or consular representation,
an extendible 96 hour transit visa from the port of entry can be
obtained. Upon arrival, the visitor is given one month residence
permit.
Other ways visas can be arranged
locally. We are ready to assist you in obtaining a visa to
Yemen.
You need to register at
tourism police stations or to apply for
an exit visa during two weeks period.
Accommodation:
Tourist
hotels are available in all major cities, and many secondary
cities, with all classes. Some hotels are local subsidiaries for
international hotel chains.

Eating and Diet
Food and drinks:
The Yemeni national dish is a spiced meat stew. Ingredients in
stews include beans, chickpeas and lentils. Rice with lamb is a
favorite meal. Fresh fish is available. Bread is prepared using sorghum, barley or wheat. Vegetables include carrots, garlic, okra, onions, peppers,
potatoes, tomatoes, spinach and squash. Fruits available are apples, bananas, citrus fruits, dates,
figs, grapes, mangoes, melons, papayas, peaches and
pomegranates. Tea is a popular drink, served either with mint or milk. Coffee
is often flavored with spices.
Water:
It is advised to drink water in bottle.
Alcohol:
Yemen is an Islamic country and alcohol is prohibited. Alcohol
can be obtained in some five-star hotels in big cities but the
prices are very high. Non alcoholic bear can be found in many places.
so, you have to bring your alcohol drinks with you.
Restaurants:
Hundreds of typical Yemeni restaurants, that are very simple,
but, with good Yemeni food, are available throughout the
country. In the main towns and there are also some good Western
and Oriental restaurants as well as Many 4 and 5 stars hotels
serve a mix of Western and local cuisine.

Ports of Entry to Yemen
The visitors to Yemen can enter via three ports:-
Via airports,
such as, Sana'a, Aden, Taiz, mukalla and Hodaidah Internationals
Airports.
By Sea, through
the sea ports, such as, Hudaidah port, Mokha port on the Red
Sea, port of Aden on the Gulf of Aden, Mukalla and Nashton ports
on the Arab Sea.
By land,
Yemen has three land entry ports: two in the north: Haradh and
Albuqa'a entry points from Saudi Arabia. The third inlet is
Habrot on the eastern border with the Sultanate of
Oman.
